With this form you can transfer a image file,
document file or text file to the quiz server.
The image file must have one of the formats
GIF, PNG, JPG or SWF (the format normally appears from the
extension of your local file; the JPG format may have
extension .jpg or .jpeg or .jpe, or similar).
In this context a document file is a file having the socalled PDF-format.
A PDF-file normally has the extension .pdf.
A text file is in this context an unformatted non-binary file.
Such a file normally has the extension .txt.
The advantage of transferring a file to quiz server is due to
the fact that if the quiz or questionnaire can be presented to the answerer by
the quiz server then the file too can be presented.
(If in your quiz or questionnaire you reference a file on another server
then this server might be unaccessible from the quiz server
and an inaccesible image, for example, will only be displayed
by the symbol of a 'broken' image).
Notice that apart from being displayable an unformatted text file
can be subject to extraction of text pieces into entry fields
of quiz definitions as descibed in the
guide to creating quizzes.
You must state the full name (including pathname)
on your computer of the file to be transferred.
If there is
a Browse button, use it and you will be certain to get
the contents of the field right. (In case the field contains
an error, e.g. a superfluous blank, you risk getting an
uncomprehensible message from the server).
Every one of your files on the server is associated with a quiz.
Therefore you must enter the name of the quiz to which the
file is associated.
Actually all binary files transferred via this form and, as mentioned,
associated with a quiz are assembled into a collection identified by the
main name of the quiz.
The quiz to which a binary file is associated does not have to
exist when the file is transferred.
In fact, the quiz itself might never created, see the
guide.
Also you must state the name of the file, e.g. fig1.gif, on
quiz server.
This name must have one of the extensions .gif, .png, .jpg or .pdf.
(.png is the extension for image files with format PNG).
The name of a document file must have the extension .pdf.
The name of an unformatted file must have the extension .txt.
When you have got these three entries right click the submit button
labeled "Transfer file".
You have also the possibility of deleting an associated file.
State the name
(e.g. f1.gif or abc.pdf ) of the file and the name of the quiz
(e.g. quiz1 or quiz1.htm or quiz1.xml).
Notice the possibility in the last part of this form of
creating a copy (with a new name) of a collection of
associated files.
In this way you can associate (a copy of) the collection
with another quiz.
You must state the main name of the current
collection and the new main name.
Finally you can delete a collection of associated files.
Obviously combining the two latter options you can rename a collection
of associated files.
